The YardBirds (Having a Rave Up)

The Yardbirds album shows the band dressed in black suits and ties as they joyfully play together infront of an solid white background. The cover is framed with a soft red pin stripe with curved edges. The title of the album and the tracks are displayed in red and blue san serif type that resembles Omaha style. The group’s name, “The Yardbirds” is written in Black type that was created by graphic designer Paul Downing is the stylish lettering that has been featured in connection with the band since the release of their first album, “For your love” in June of 1965. The type expresses fantastic creativity and really helps add a interesting appearance. The phychodelic style is curvacious, swirling and energetic and has helped project the name and image of the band over the years. Although Eric Clapton left the band in 1965, he suggested Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck as possible replacements, both of whom would play a role in the bands popularity and success. Jeff Beck replaced Eric Clapton eight months before the album “Having a Rave Up” was released. The album would spend 33 weeks in Billboards top LP charts where it recieved a ranking of 53.
